My first and current novel, War Dance Part 1, The Road to War, is complete, after nine years and a hundred iterations.
A sequel, War Dance Part 2, First Blood, advances the story through the first terrible year of the war in which Sonny Wheeler becomes a hero, falls in love and begins to unravel his father’s secrets.
I have also fleshed out the outline of another novel, set also in the Pacific in the 1930s and ‘40s. The primary characters are a handsome, smart, impulsive adventurer, an older, wiser, irreverent African-American, who plays piano in gin mills, the brother of the handsome adventurer, who is a naval intelligence officer, and the bratty Jewish girl from Baltimore who has a crush on the handsome adventurer, and finds a pretext to hang around as they roam the Pacific in a boat of some sort. The working title for perhaps a series of short novels is Island Tales.
